Aksa Enerji expands Kalecik Power Plant capacity in Northern Cyprus
Aksa Enerji has announced a 35 MW capacity expansion at the Kalecik Power Plant to strengthen the energy supply in Northern Cyprus. This investment will increase the plant's total installed capacity from 188 MW to 223 MW.
Since 2003, the Kalecik Power Plant has provided approximately 50% of the electricity needs in Northern Cyprus. The expansion, conducted through an additional protocol with the Cyprus Turkish Electricity Authority (KIB-TEK), aims to meet rising electricity demand and enhance energy security and supply stability.
Aksa Enerji CEO Naci Ağbal stated that a reliable energy infrastructure is a fundamental condition for economic and social development, particularly in island economies. The company has operated in Northern Cyprus for over 20 years, and the plant's operating term was previously extended to 2038.
