Aksaray apartment fire spreads from basement to roof

A fire broke out in the basement of the four-story Berat Apartmanı in the Hasas neighborhood of Aksaray, Turkey. The blaze originated from a short circuit in an electrical panel at approximately 22:30.

The flames spread rapidly through the elevator ventilation shaft and reached the roof. Driven by wind, the fire threatened the entire roof structure, an event captured by drone footage.

Emergency services, including police and firefighters, arrived at the scene, and nearby roads were closed for security. The situation caused significant panic when a resident reported that individuals might still be trapped in a third-floor apartment, leading bystanders and journalists to attempt to break down doors to reach them.

Building manager İbrahim Çetin stated that there were only five residents in the building and confirmed that everyone had successfully evacuated. Firefighting efforts lasted approximately two hours, and while the situation was being managed, crews continued working to fully extinguish the flames.
