Aksaray court seeks up to 24 years for teen who killed 16‑year‑old Mustafa Yağız
Prosecutors in Aksaray have filed an indictment against a 16‑year‑old suspect, identified only as R. M., accusing him of intentionally murdering his peer, Mustafa Yağız Edik, who was also 16. The killing occurred on 10 March 2024 when R. M. stabbed the victim in the chest during a dispute in the Büyük Bölcek neighbourhood. After the attack, R. M. sent messages to a friend admitting the act and indicating he was looking for a place to hide.
The indictment requests a prison term of 18 to 24 years for the charge of “intentional killing of a child.” The case also notes that threatening messages were sent to the victim’s family after the murder, prompting a criminal complaint. The first hearing before the Aksaray Heavy Penal Court is scheduled for 3 July 2024.
