Aksaray court sentences driver in fatal motorcycle collision

A court in Aksaray has sentenced minibus driver Faruk Koçak to 3 years and 4 months in prison for the death of 19-year-old motorcyclist Arda Bozkurt. Following the sentencing, the court ordered Koçak's release from custody, taking into account the time he had already spent in detention.

The fatal accident occurred on July 10 in the Ereğlikapı neighborhood when a minibus collided with Bozkurt's motorcycle at an intersection. Despite wearing a helmet, Bozkurt was thrown 14 meters by the impact and sustained severe head injuries. He passed away 19 days later at Konya City Hospital.

Musa Bozkurt, the father of the deceased, expressed profound grief and stated his intention to appeal the decision, arguing that the driver should not be walking free after causing a death. The case file has been forwarded to a higher regional court for approval.
