Akshay Kumar’s sci-fi thriller Samuk completes UK filming

Production for the upcoming science fiction action thriller Samuk has completed its extensive filming schedule in the United Kingdom. Approximately 80 per cent of the film was shot during this international leg, which began in late August. The production is now scheduled to move to Mumbai for a final 20-day shooting period.

Directed by Kanishk Varma and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah under Sunshine Pictures, the film features an ensemble cast including Akshay Kumar, Rukmini Maitra, Vineet Kumar Singh, Rajat Kapoor, Swanand Kirkire, Banita Sandhu, and Sushant Singh. The project marks a reunion between Kumar and Shah after 13 years.

A notable technical aspect of the production is the involvement of Academy Award-nominated creature effects designer Alec Gillis, recognized for his work on the Alien and Predator franchises, who is designing the film’s central alien creature. Samuk is being positioned as a large-scale theatrical spectacle and is slated for a pan-India release in 2027.
