Aktor ATE awarded €24 million contract to upgrade Pontou Road in Kalamaria
The Greek Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, led by Minister Christos Dimas, approved a €24.118 million contract (including VAT) for the full configuration of Pontou Road in the Kalamaria district of Thessaloniki. The procurement was carried out through a negotiated, study‑construction tender without prior publication, with three firms invited to bid: Aktor ATE, Intercat AE and Michail M. Tsontos AE. Aktor ATE was selected as the temporary contractor, offering a 2 % discount that was judged the most economical.
The project, classified as a national‑level work, involves widening the 2.33‑km stretch of Pontou Road to a 40‑metre right‑of‑way, installing two traffic lanes per direction (3.5 m each) with 2.5 % gradients, variable‑width sidewalks up to 8 m, and a 10‑metre central island. The road is a key axis for the Thessaloniki Metro extension, hosting four of the five new stations, three of which lie within the unoccupied segment of the road. The work is part of the Ministry’s 2026‑2030 Sectoral Development Programme and is slated for completion by 31 December 2028.
