Akwa Ibom Governor sets 2026 deadline for state transport projects
Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno has directed state agencies and contractors to accelerate transportation projects to ensure completion and commissioning before the end of 2026. The governor emphasized the need for timely delivery to improve connectivity and mobility for residents, specifically highlighting the Oron Maritime Infrastructure and Ferry Project, which is currently 85 percent complete.
In a separate development, residents of Ibiaku Uruan have appealed to Governor Eno to finalize the 8-kilometre Nduetong Oku–Ibiaku Uruan–Ekritam Road and its 60-metre-span bridge. The project was reportedly awarded in 2018 but remains unfinished. Community members in the diaspora noted that the road serves as a vital link to Uyo, and its prolonged delay has negatively impacted local commerce, education, and healthcare access, particularly during the rainy season.
