Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno appoints Statistician-General, signs 14 reform bills

Akwa Ibom State Governor Pastor Umo Eno swore in Uduak Effiong Isaac as the new Statistician-General, tasking him with managing and coordinating state statistical data and producing monthly reports to support the ARISE Agenda. Isaac, previously Permanent Secretary of Human Capital Development, was praised for his role in documenting achievements that led to a vice‑presidential visit and top national ranking in human‑capital development.

The governor also signed 14 executive bills into law, creating bodies such as the Akwa Ibom State Geographical Information Service, Senior Citizens Centre, Hotels and Tourism Development Commission, Ibom Broadcasting Corporation, Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance Systems Agency, Public Procurement Regulatory Agency, Betting and Lottery Regulatory Agency, Fiscal Responsibility Board, Internal Revenue Service, Office of the Public Defender, Water Users Association and the University of Education, Afaha Nsit. Amendments to the Hospitals Management Board Law aim to decentralise hospital administration and return doctors to clinical duties. These measures are presented as steps to strengthen governance, institutionalise reforms and expand the gains of the ARISE Agenda.
