Akwa United has bolstered its squad with 10 new signings ahead of the 2026/2027 Nigeria National League (NNL) season. The Uyo-based club is aiming to secure promotion back to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

The new recruits include goalkeeper Robert Cole from Godswill Akpabio United, defenders Keme Okoriye, Famoyegun Michael, and Ikemdinachi Prince, and four midfielders: Paschal Uba, Asiriuwa Godwin, Ifeanyichukwu Nwune, and James Peter. The attacking line has been strengthened by the addition of Peter Asuquo and Apas Abel.

Head coach Paul Offor expressed confidence in the quality of the additions as the players have already begun training with the existing squad. Akwa United is set to compete in Conference B of the NNL, with the season scheduled to begin on October 31, 2026.
