Akwasi Opong-Fosu unveils “3Vs” plan for NDC grassroots

Akwasi Opong-Fosu, a candidate for the National Chairmanship of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has introduced a “3Vs” framework designed to empower the party’s grassroots members. The plan, presented to NDC branch members on September 24, 2026, focuses on three pillars: Votes, Voice, and Viability.

The Votes pillar aims to provide greater recognition and support for branch and constituency members involved in electoral mobilization. The Voice component proposes a formal mechanism for grassroots members to influence party decisions by submitting ideas from local branches to regional and national leadership.

The Viability pillar focuses on the economic sustainability of members and constituency structures between election cycles. Under this proposal, constituencies would identify local business opportunities and assist members with skills training, apprenticeships, and mentorship. The plan also supports the creation of member-owned businesses and cooperatives. To oversee these efforts, Opong-Fosu proposes establishing a Business Development Directorate at the party headquarters to provide technical assistance and ensure accountability, while allowing individual constituencies to select activities suited to their specific local economies.
