AL-102 Norte highway section to be inaugurated in Alagoas
The first section of the AL-102 Norte highway in Alagoas is nearing completion and is scheduled for official inauguration on September 26. This initial 6.6 km stretch begins at the duplicated segment of the AL-101 Norte in the Guaxuma neighborhood and extends to the mouth of the Pratagy River near Praia da Sereia.
Governor Paulo Dantas recently inspected the site, noting that the project aims to alleviate traffic congestion and improve urban mobility in the capital, Maceió. The broader project involves the duplication of 30 km of road between Maceió and Barra de Santo Antônio. This expansion is expected to triple vehicle traffic capacity in the region, which is a major tourist destination, while facilitating economic production and regional integration.
The total investment for the AL-102 Norte duplication is R$ 412 million, funded by the State Treasury in partnership with the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF). The highway will feature a main corridor with two lanes in each direction and five access points: Praia da Sereia, Povoado Saúde, Paripueira, and Praia de Tabuba. Current works include earthmoving, paving, and drainage.
