Al-Ahli Saudi FC seeks new sporting director after Hawsawi resignation

Al-Ahli Saudi FC has opened negotiations to find a new sporting director following the resignation of Osama Hawsawi. Hawsawi, a former player for the club, held the position on an interim basis after the dismissal of Portuguese official Rui Pedro.

Hawsawi’s tenure lasted approximately 24 days. Reports indicate his resignation stemmed from administrative friction, specifically a lack of clear authority and overlapping jurisdictions with the club’s CEO, Fabrice Bouquet. Tensions reportedly escalated following a match against Mamelodi Sundowns.

Club executives, including Executive Committee Chairman Ahmed Al-Shanqiti and CEO Fabrice Bouquet, are working to resolve the vacancy quickly to ensure stability for the first team. The club is currently evaluating several candidates to fill the role permanently.
