Al Ahli Saudi FC targets Villarreal midfielder Papi Gueye

Al Ahli Saudi FC is reportedly interested in signing Senegalese midfielder Papi Gueye from Spanish club Villarreal CF. The move comes amid uncertainty regarding the future of Franck Kessie at the Saudi club.

Villarreal is reportedly considering a sale of the 27-year-old Gueye for approximately €40 million to bolster its financial position. While no official offers have been received as of yet, Gueye has drawn attention following his performances in the Africa Cup of Nations and the 2026 World Cup.

In recent managerial changes, Al Ahli appointed Dutch coach Marino Bosic until 2028, succeeding Matthias Jaissle, who departed to join Newcastle United.
