Al Ahly gears up for new season with friendlies, including Barcelona clash in Joan Gamper Cup

Al Ahly announced a friendly against Delphie on Wednesday as part of its preparations for the upcoming season under new Moroccan coach Hussein Amouta. The club previously recorded a 5‑1 win over Al‑Nasr (Cairo) and a 7‑1 victory against Lavina, using the matches to test tactics, assess returning players and evaluate young talent.

President Mahmoud El‑Khatib said he will not travel to Spain for the high‑profile friendly against Barcelona on 19 August at Spotify Camp Nou, which is part of the Joan Gamper Cup. The fixture marks the first appearance of an Egyptian and African club in the tournament. Several board members, led by Tarek Qandil, will accompany the team on the trip.
