Al Ahly SC suspends basketball player Amr Zahran

Al Ahly SC has issued severe disciplinary sanctions against basketball player Amr Zahran following unethical conduct toward an opponent during a match against Al Qanah. The club's board of directors decided to suspend Zahran for six months and deduct 50% of his contract value, citing the need to uphold the club's values and discipline.

These internal penalties follow separate sanctions imposed by the Egyptian Basketball Federation. The federation suspended Zahran for three months, barring him from participating in the Egypt Cup, the Egyptian Super Cup, and various international friendly and official matches. Additionally, the federation imposed a fine of 200,000 Egyptian pounds and issued a final warning to the player.

While Al Ahly implemented these internal measures, the club has also expressed reservations regarding the disciplinary mechanisms used by the basketball federation and intends to prepare an official memorandum to contest the federation's decisions.
