Al-Anon expands support network for families of alcoholics in Verona
Al-Anon, an association for the families and friends of alcoholics, is launching a campaign in the province of Verona to increase awareness of its anonymous support services. The initiative is being supported by pharmacies affiliated with Federfarma Verona to help reach those affected by the chronic condition.
Al-Anon operates 20 locations throughout the province and has been active for over 40 years. The organization emphasizes that family members cannot manage the consequences of addiction alone and encourages them to seek help from those with shared experiences. The program is independent of the alcoholic's own recovery process.
Special attention is given to children and adolescents through Alateen, a program specifically designed for young people whose lives are impacted by another person's drinking. The collaboration with local pharmacists aims to combat the stigma, shame, and isolation often associated with alcoholism.
