Al Bagour Specialized Hospital denies patient deaths linked to power failure

Officials at Al Bagour Specialized Hospital in Monufia have denied claims that patients died due to a power failure in the intensive care unit. A source from the hospital clarified that while an explosion occurred in one of the three Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) devices responsible for regulating electricity to critical medical equipment, the deaths reported were unrelated to the incident.

According to health ministry sources, the UPS explosion caused a temporary power interruption in one intensive care hall, leading to the immediate transfer of four patients to another unit. Regarding the reported deaths, officials stated that two patients in critical condition suffered sudden cardiac arrest due to their underlying medical conditions, and two other deaths occurred in the emergency department at times unrelated to the electrical malfunction.

A committee from the Ministry of Health and Population, led by the Director of the Specialized Hospitals Secretariat, has been formed to investigate the circumstances. The committee is reviewing hospital records and medical reports to verify the facts and ensure the safety of medical services. The Governor of Monufia has also ordered necessary measures to confirm the reality of the situation.
