Al-Bireh land seizure: Israel establishes security path around Basagot settlement
Israeli authorities have seized 15.342 dunams of land in Al-Bireh to establish a 3,835-meter security path around the Basagot settlement. The move, authorized by military order 115/25/T, aims to create a new buffer zone in the Jabal al-Tawil area.
The Wall Resistance and Settlement Protection Committee stated that the order was signed on June 18, 2025, and remains valid until December 31, 2027. While the direct seizure involves approximately 15 dunams, the new security path is expected to restrict Palestinian access to an additional 380 dunams of land situated between the existing settlement and the new perimeter.
This action is part of a broader trend in the West Bank; since October 7, 2023, authorities have issued 46 military orders to create buffer zones around settlements. The committee noted that such measures are increasingly used to expand territorial control and isolate Palestinian communities.
