Al Haouz province records 865,000 overnight stays in seven months

The Al Haouz province in Morocco has strengthened its position within the national tourism landscape, recording 864,977 overnight stays in classified tourist accommodation during the first seven months of 2026. This represents a 9 percent increase compared to the same period in the previous year.

According to Marwan Shioukh, President of the Provincial Tourism Council, the province accounts for 3 percent of all overnight stays recorded nationwide during this period. The occupancy rate for tourist accommodation in the region has stabilized at approximately 75 percent.

The region's growth is driven by its diverse natural and mountainous landscapes, including key destinations such as Ourika, Zat, Amizmiz, Asni, and Imlil, which serves as the primary gateway to Mount Toubkal. To sustain this momentum, the Provincial Tourism Council is implementing several strategic initiatives, including the ‘Kafa’ah’ program for human resource training, the creation of a digital platform for regional promotion, and efforts to formalize the restaurant sector and guide services.
