Al Hoceima councilor calls for investigation into 96 million centime road repair deal

Zakaria Mdian, an Istiqlal Party councilor in Al Hoceima, has formally requested the provincial governor to launch an administrative, technical, and financial investigation into a road repair contract. The project, aimed at fixing potholes in streets and neighborhoods within the municipality, is valued at 96 million centimes.

Mdian cited significant delays and a slow pace of work as the primary reasons for his request. He noted that previous inquiries made to the municipal council presidency in September 2026 failed to provide sufficient explanations regarding the causes of the delays or the contractor's adherence to contractual obligations.

The requested investigation seeks to verify compliance with the terms of reference, project deadlines, and the quality of the completed work. Mdian emphasized that the move is intended to protect public funds, ensure transparency, and hold responsible parties accountable if any mismanagement or irregularities are uncovered.
