Al Hoceima security forces arrest suspect in Imzouren police officer killing

Moroccan security forces in Al Hoceima, in coordination with the National Judicial Police Brigade, have arrested a man known as “Al-Sirko” (The Circus). The suspect is the primary individual linked to a violent armed confrontation in Imzouren that resulted in the death of a police officer and injuries to two Royal Gendarmerie members and a civilian.

The arrest took place at a rented house in the Afzar neighborhood of Al Hoceima. Authorities utilized a drone to monitor the perimeter and secure the intervention site to prevent escape or armed resistance. During the operation, police also detained a woman suspected of providing the suspect with shelter while he was a fugitive.

The suspect, a 32-year-old man from the Driouch province, faces multiple serious charges. These include involvement in a dangerous criminal network engaged in trafficking potent drugs and psychotropic substances, human trafficking through the exploitation of minors in violent criminal activities, and providing logistical support to a criminal gang.
