Al-Nassr suffers first Saudi Pro League defeat amid player injuries
Al-Nassr suffered its first defeat of the 2026-27 Saudi Pro League season, losing 2-1 to Al-Ittihad. George Ilenikhena scored twice for Al-Ittihad, while Angelo Gabriel scored for Al-Nassr. The match was marked by social media controversy after Al-Ittihad mocked Cristiano Ronaldo for attempting to read a tactical note intended for defender Danilo Pereira, posting the caption, “Cheating and still losing!”. Additionally, Al-Nassr winger Kingsley Coman suffered a hamstring tear during the match and is expected to be sidelined for several weeks.
In separate news, Galatasaray confirmed that striker Victor Osimhen and midfielder Mario Lemina have both sustained moderate-to-advanced right adductor muscle strains. Osimhen's injury, which involves muscle bleeding, is expected to keep him sidelined for three weeks to a month. This will force him to miss Nigeria’s upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau, as well as Galatasaray’s UEFA Champions League opener against Sporting CP.
