Al Jazeera celebrates 30 years of broadcasting

Al Jazeera is marking its 30th anniversary with a commemorative event at its headquarters in Doha, Qatar. The event was attended by the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and other delegates.

Launched on November 1, 1996, the network was established by the late Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. Since its inception, the network has focused on bringing marginalized political perspectives into mainstream Arab broadcasting.

The anniversary coincides with a significant restructuring of the Al Jazeera Media Network’s Arabic-language services. This overhaul involves separating rolling breaking news, live event broadcasting, and in-depth reporting across three distinct channels to broaden the scope of its coverage.
