Al-Jibsa gas plant pipeline explosion halts gas flow in Syria

The Syrian Petroleum Company reported that an explosion occurred at 4:00 AM on Tuesday on a gas export pipeline from the Al-Jibsa gas plant in the Al-Hasakah governorate. The incident has halted gas pumping through the line.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the explosion was the result of intentional sabotage. The company stated that wells were isolated, safety valves were closed, and the site was secured. No injuries to workers were reported.

The disruption to gas flow has affected the feeding of several power generation turbines. The Syrian Petroleum Company is coordinating with the Syrian Electricity Company to compensate for the shortage using available alternatives. Repair teams have begun working around the clock to restore service, and additional measures are being taken to enhance the protection of oil and gas facilities and transport lines.
