Çal Mayor protests low grape prices

Ahmet Hakan, the Mayor of Çal, has expressed strong opposition to the recently announced floor prices for grapes. During a press meeting ahead of the 2nd International Çal Grape Harvest, Culture and Art Festival, Hakan criticized the price range of 17 TL to 20 TL per kilogram.

Hakan noted that these prices do not cover the costs for farmers, highlighting that diesel prices have risen from 54 TL to over 80 TL, while grape prices have dropped from 25 TL to the current levels. He stated that the economic situation for farmers in the Çal, Baklan, Bekilli, and Güney regions is extremely difficult, comparing the total value of the region's grape production unfavorably to professional football transfer fees.
