Al-Quds Bait al-Mal Agency launches ‘Awna’ campaign for Jerusalem olive farmers
The Al-Quds Bait al-Mal Agency, under the Al-Quds Committee chaired by King Mohammed VI of Morocco, has launched the ‘Awna’ campaign to support olive harvesters in Jerusalem for the 2026 season. Supported by Moroccan contributions from the Moroccan Association for the Reconstruction of Palestine and the Municipality of Fez, the initiative is entering its seventh consecutive year.
The campaign aims to benefit approximately 2,250 farmers across 20 areas in the Jerusalem Governorate, covering 16 agricultural gates. The agency is distributing essential tools and equipment, including battery-operated mechanical harvesters, ladders, mats, and bags, to help speed up the harvest, improve production quality, and protect crops from theft.
This year’s campaign comes amid significant challenges for local farmers, who face difficulties accessing their lands due to settler attacks. According to the Director General of Agriculture for the Jerusalem Governorate, Faiha Najm, more than 87 farmers have faced attacks in areas such as Jaba, Beit Anan, Silwan, and Abu Dis, while over 70 farmers in Mikhmas have struggled to reach their groves.
