Al Sadd takes Qatar League lead after 4-0 win over Shahaniya

Al Sadd secured a 4-0 victory against Shahaniya on Thursday, briefly reclaiming the top spot in the Qatar Stars League. The win ended a difficult streak of four consecutive losses for the club across domestic and Asian Champions League competitions.

Akram Afif opened the scoring in the 21st minute, followed by a goal from Roberto Firmino after an assist from fellow Brazilian Giovani. Afif scored again early in the second half, and Mustafa Mashaal completed the rout.

Firmino has now scored six goals in seven matches this season, placing him second in the league's scoring charts behind teammate Afif, who has seven. Firmino has recorded 25 goals in 43 appearances for Al Sadd. The victory brings Al Sadd to 15 points, moving them ahead of Al Rayyan.
