EHEC contamination triggers expanded recall of raw sausages from Göttingen

The district of Göttingen has issued a nationwide recall of raw sausages produced by Fleischwaren Wulff after tests detected the Shiga‑toxin‑producing Escherichia coli (EHEC). The recall, announced on 15 July 2026, covers numerous products – including various sizes of onion‑mettwurst, ham‑onion mettwurst and pepperlings – with specific batch numbers such as 621301, 621302, 621303, 621304 and 621312. All German federal states except Saarland and Baden‑Württemberg are affected. Consumers are advised not to eat the recalled items, to discard them or return them to the point of sale for a refund. The district warns that EHEC can cause diarrhoea, severe abdominal cramps and, in high‑risk groups (infants, the elderly and immunocompromised), can lead to haemolytic‑uraemic syndrome and kidney failure. An earlier recall earlier in July targeted a different set of batches; the current action expands the list of affected products. Anyone who has consumed the sausages and develops symptoms should seek medical attention promptly.
