Al-Shifa Hospital radiology department reopened after IHH repairs

The humanitarian organization IHH has completed a comprehensive repair of the Interventional Radiology Department at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza. The facility, which suffered heavy damage due to ongoing conflict, has officially reopened to patients.

Following the repairs, the department expects to serve between 6,000 and 8,000 patients and wounded individuals monthly, including those requiring urgent surgical intervention.

The project comes amid critical challenges to Gaza's healthcare infrastructure. Reports indicate that over a thousand attacks on health facilities have been recorded since October 2023. Current conditions in densely populated areas include inadequate water and sanitation services, increasing the risk of infectious diseases such as chickenpox. Additionally, thousands of cancer and dialysis patients remain in need of medical evacuations and urgent treatment due to limited medical supplies and facility constraints.
