Alaafin of Oyo installs Dr. Adesola Adeduntan as new Balogun

The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade, has installed Dr. Adesola Adeduntan as the new Balogun of the ancient Oyo city. The installation ceremony, held at the Alaafin’s Palace, was attended by various dignitaries, government officials, and traditional rulers, including the Olubadan of Ibadanland and the Oluwo of Iwo.

Dr. Adeduntan, a former Group Managing Director and CEO of First Bank of Nigeria Limited, succeeds the late Dr. Victor Olunloyo. During the ceremony, the Alaafin emphasized that the Balogun title is a senior office within the Oyo Empire responsible for leadership, courage, and the defense of the kingdom.

In a congratulatory message, President Bola Tinubu urged the new Balogun to promote peace, development, and the preservation of cultural heritage. Dr. Adeduntan pledged to serve the Oyo Kingdom and Yorubaland with integrity and commitment.
