Alaçam rice harvest begins in Samsun
The rice harvest has officially commenced in the Alaçam district of Samsun, Turkey. The event, titled ‘2nd Rice Harvest Field Day,’ was held in the Kargalı area of the Gökçeboğaz neighborhood.
Local officials, including the Alaçam District Governor, the Mayor of Alaçam, and representatives from the Alaçam Chamber of Agriculture, participated in the ceremonial harvest. Hüseyin Sönmez, President of the Alaçam Chamber of Agriculture, emphasized that rice production is a vital component of the district's agricultural economy.
Producer and local village head Halil İbrahim Çelebi reported a successful season. He stated that he manages approximately 550 decares of rice cultivation and is seeing an average yield of 900 kilograms per decare.
