LSU and Alabama prepare for high-stakes football matchup

The LSU Tigers and Alabama Crimson Tide are set to face each other in a high-stakes SEC matchup in Baton Rouge. The game carries significant implications for both programs, as a loss could potentially impact College Football Playoff contention.

LSU linebacker Whit Weeks, who has been sidelined with a leg fracture since late September, may be able to return to practice and potentially participate in the game. Meanwhile, Alabama enters the matchup following a bye week, though ESPN's AllState Playoff Predictor suggests the team's playoff chances have slightly dipped from 63 percent to 60 percent.

On the field, attention will be on Alabama freshman quarterback Keelon Russell, who has demonstrated strong fourth-quarter passing efficiency. LSU will look to their quarterback Sam Leavitt to lead the offense. The matchup comes amid discussions regarding the future of the LSU-Alabama rivalry, as new SEC scheduling rules mean the teams will no longer meet annually starting in 2027.
