Alabama and New England Face Heavy Rain and Thunderstorms

The Cullman Tribune reports that much of Alabama will experience periods of heavy rain and strong to severe thunderstorms on August 1, with localized flooding and wind gusts of 40‑60 mph possible, especially in the southern part of the state. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue into Sunday before returning to more typical summer patterns.

A significant weather outlook from the Blue Hill Observatory warns that southern New England will see scattered showers and thunderstorms on August 3, with heavy downpours capable of producing flash flooding in urban areas and small streams. Isolated wind gusts and a possible squall line could also develop, driven by an upper‑level trough and moist air mass.
