Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer discusses offensive line improvements

Alabama head football coach Kalen DeBoer addressed the media following the Crimson Tide’s 48-10 season-opening victory against East Carolina. While the offensive performance was strong, DeBoer identified specific areas for improvement regarding the offensive line, particularly in pass protection.

DeBoer noted that while the unit showed consistency in the running game, there were instances where the protection did not hold long enough to allow quarterback Keelon Russell to capitalize on explosive plays. He emphasized that pass protection is a collective responsibility involving running backs, tight ends, and the quarterback, rather than being solely the fault of the offensive line.
