Collegiate athletics: Alabama wins Ben Hogan golf invitational
Various collegiate athletic competitions concluded recently across the United States. In golf, the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational at Colonial Country Club saw Alabama secure the team title with an 840 total. The top-ranked Auburn men's team finished second, while North Carolina tied for third. Individually, Adam Bresnu of Texas Tech claimed the title at the Ben Hogan event with a 7-under 203.
At the UConn Invitational, which was shortened to 36 holes due to weather, Rhode Island won the tournament. Boston College finished second, led by Kieran Low, while Siena placed eighth and Villanova finished 12th.
In other sports, the University of West Alabama's rodeo teams earned national recognition, with the women's team ranked No. 7 and the men's team ranked No. 11 in the NIRA Top-25. In soccer, Jackson State earned SWAC weekly honors for Kianah Farmer and Taylor Osborn following a 3-0 victory over Southern. In women's tennis, South Alabama's Isabella Pisarczyk went undefeated in singles during the Samford Round Robin.
