Alabama Crimson Tide aims to revive run game under OC Ryan Grubb

Alabama’s rushing attack fell far below program standards in the 2025 season, averaging just over 104 yards per game and ranking near the bottom of the FBS. Offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb told reporters at preseason camp that the priority for 2026 is to “simplify and do your best stuff,” promising to resurrect the run game.

Grubb highlighted the contributions of newly hired offensive line coach Adrian Klemm and tight‑ends coach Richard Owens, noting that Klemm’s teaching has already impacted the trenches. He also pointed to promising backs such as Daniel Hill, whose physical transformation he praised, and freshman EJ Crowell, describing their potential as “sky‑is‑the‑limit.” The staff’s offseason moves include adding new linemen and reshaping the offensive line to restore Alabama’s traditional ground‑game identity.
