Alabama Crimson Tide improve run game in season opener

The Alabama Crimson Tide demonstrated significant improvements in their rushing attack during their season opener against East Carolina. The team recorded 227 rushing yards, averaging 4.6 yards per carry, a notable increase from the 104.1 yards per game averaged during the 2025 season. All five of Alabama’s offensive touchdowns in the game were scored on the ground.

Quarterback Keelon Russell led the rushing efforts with 86 yards on 13 attempts, while running back Daniel Hill contributed 47 yards. Freshman EJ Crowell also played a significant role, totaling 37 yards despite missing previous scrimmages due to an ankle injury. Head coach Kalen DeBoer noted the physical presence displayed by the team during the performance.

On the offensive line, transfer Racin Delgatty made his debut as the starting center. Offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb praised Delgatty’s athleticism and physicality, noting his ability to make late calls and correct line-of-scrimmage issues, though Grubb mentioned that consistent communication remains a focus for development.
