Alabama cross country teams win Southern Showcase

The Alabama cross country men’s and women’s teams secured first-place victories at the Southern Showcase in Huntsville, Alabama. On the men’s side, Dismus Lokira finished first overall with a time of 23:08, leading a squad that claimed the top five individual spots to achieve the best possible team score. The men’s team finished ahead of Appalachian State, Georgia Tech, and Clemson.

The Alabama women’s team also took first place, led by Caren Kiplagat, who finished first overall in 15:41. The women’s team placed five runners in the top 10, outperforming Clemson, Auburn, and Mercer.

Appalachian State also competed in the event. The men’s team finished with a score of 118, led by Noah Martinson, who placed ninth overall with a time of 23:57. The women’s team finished with a score of 453, led by Ashby Williams, who placed 86th with a time of 18:18.
