Hurricane Isaias relief: IRS extends tax deadlines for Alabama and Florida
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has granted tax relief to residents and businesses in parts of Alabama and Florida affected by Hurricane Isaias. In Alabama, taxpayers in 40 counties have until February 4, 2027, to file returns and make payments that were due on or after October 7. In Florida, taxpayers in 27 specific counties have until February 8, 2027, to meet obligations due on or after October 9.
The relief applies to various individual and business tax returns, including income tax, partnership, S corporation, estate, and trust returns. The IRS will automatically identify eligible taxpayers in the covered disaster areas. In Florida, the relief is geographically limited to specific counties such as Bay, Leon, and Escambia; major areas like Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach are not included.
In Alabama, Governor Kay Ivey has extended the state of emergency for Hurricane Isaias through October 28. This supplemental proclamation maintains emergency measures to support ongoing recovery efforts in communities still facing the storm's effects.
