Hot, humid early August across the US with scattered thunderstorms

Across much of the United States, forecasters are calling for near‑90 °F highs, high humidity and heat indices approaching 100 °F early in the week.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected in many regions, including Maine, Nebraska, Florida’s Gulf Coast, Minnesota/Wisconsin, and Hawaii’s Maui. Storms may bring gusty winds, heavy rain and occasional strong downpours, though the risk of severe weather remains low.

The pattern is driven by a warm air mass and an approaching weather system that will increase moisture on Friday, after which a stronger high‑pressure ridge is expected to bring drier conditions later in the week.
