Alabama Governor Kay Ivey proclaims September 4 as College Colors Day
Alabama Governor Kay Ivey has officially proclaimed September 4 as College Colors Day in the state. The proclamation aims to encourage students, alumni, faculty, staff, and fans to wear their favorite university colors to celebrate Alabama’s 14 public colleges and universities.
The theme for this year is “Universities Turn Dreams into Reality.” The proclamation highlights the significant role higher education plays in the state, noting that Alabama’s universities contribute more than $27 billion to the state's economy and have a history of education spanning over 190 years. The initiative is intended to increase public awareness of the economic, cultural, and social impacts of these institutions.
