Alabama Humanities Alliance announces new exhibitions and events
The Alabama Humanities Alliance (AHA) has announced a series of upcoming exhibitions and events across the state.
A major highlight is the traveling Smithsonian exhibit, ‘Americans’, developed by the National Museum of the American Indian. The exhibition explores the connection between Native Americans and United States history and identity. It is scheduled to begin in Atmore on September 14-15, before traveling to Wetumpka, Florence, Scottsboro, and Foley through June 2027.
Additionally, the AHA will host a special program on October 19 at Birmingham’s Lyric Theatre as part of its 2026 Alabama Colloquium series. The event will honor Alabama musicians Emmylou Harris, Will Kimbrough, Randy Owen, and Fred Wesley through an onstage conversation and musical performances. Another colloquium event, ‘Considering America at 250’, is scheduled for October 12 to honor Alabamians in the fields of history, civics, literature, and law.
