Alabama football faces injury setbacks ahead of Kentucky matchup

The Alabama Crimson Tide faces several roster challenges ahead of their SEC opener against Kentucky. Most notably, starting right guard Michael Carroll has been ruled out for Saturday’s game due to a concussion. Carroll, the lone returning starter from the 2025 first-team offensive line, may be replaced by true freshman Ethan Fields.

Other significant absences on the injury report include wide receiver Noah Rogers, linebacker Cayden Jones, and defensive lineman Jeremiah Beaman, who is out for the season with an ACL tear. Defensive back Zyan Gibson has also been ruled out. Running back AK Dear and defensive back Jireh Edwards remain listed as questionable.

Separately, former Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron has expressed concern regarding star wide receiver Ryan Coleman-Williams’ decision to play without gloves this season. While Coleman-Williams recorded 130 yards in the season opener against East Carolina, McCarron suggested that wearing gloves could help improve the receiver's consistency.
