Alabama local boards and commissions adopt new fiscal budgets

Local government entities in Alabama have presented or adopted new fiscal budgets. The Fayette County Board of Education proposed a $34 million budget for the 2026-2027 fiscal year during a public hearing on September 8.

In Cullman County, the County Commission adopted its fiscal year 2026-2027 budget on September 22. The total major funds amount to approximately $94.62 million, with the General Fund totaling about $40.1 million. This represents an 8.64% increase from the previous fiscal year. The General Fund budget allocates $19.28 million to the Sheriff’s Office and jail, accounting for 48.1% of the fund. Other allocations include $14.15 million for roads and $1.87 million for the Commission Office. Revenue is expected to be driven primarily by sales and property taxes.
