Alabama man charged with murder of two relatives
Thomas Henry Steele, 47, faces two capital murder charges following the deaths of his aunt, Christy Deloach, 65, and his grandmother, Dora Boone, 85. The incident occurred on October 12 at a home on Carolina Court in Mobile, Alabama. Prosecutors allege that Steele used a chainsaw to decapitate both women after a family member contacted 911 regarding his behavior.
During a bond hearing on October 13, Circuit Judge S. Wesley Pipes ordered Steele to undergo an inpatient competency evaluation through the Alabama Department of Mental Health. This order followed an incident in which Steele allegedly told the judge to “kill him” upon the appointment of public defender Glenn Davidson.
Steele is currently being held without bond at a secure medical facility to undergo treatment intended to restore his competency to stand trial. The Mobile County District Attorney’s Office is evaluating whether to file additional charges related to his alleged threats against his court-appointed lawyer, pending the results of the mental health evaluation.
