Alabama news: Birmingham PFAS lawsuit and TikTok settlement

The City of Birmingham has filed a federal lawsuit against 3M, DuPont-related companies, and over a dozen other manufacturers. The suit alleges these companies sold firefighter turnout gear containing PFAS chemicals while concealing the associated risks for decades. This legal action follows similar lawsuits filed by 28 entities across twelve states.

In a separate development, TikTok has agreed to pay Alabama a minimum of $100 million to settle claims regarding social media addiction. As part of the settlement, the platform will implement safety changes, including a two-hour daily limit for underage users, restrictions on unlimited scrolling and overnight access, and limitations on beauty filters to address mental health concerns among teenagers.

Additionally, U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville has relaunched attacks regarding transgender Americans.
