Alabama secures $68 million aerospace investment at Farnborough Airshow
At the 2026 Farnborough International Airshow in England, Alabama's delegation highlighted the state's aerospace and defense sector. Governor Kay Ivey said the state had its strongest showing, with more than 50 meetings between the Alabama Department of Commerce and industry firms.
The visit produced two major announcements: Redwire will expand its operations in Huntsville, and UK‑based superalloy maker Doncasters will open a second manufacturing site in Auburn. Together the projects represent about $68 million in capital investment and will create roughly 220 new jobs.
The City of Opelika also participated, using the airshow to promote its growing aerospace ecosystem and attract foreign investment, aiming to build global connections for Alabama’s aviation and defense industries.
