Alabama Special Primary Election on Aug. 11: Endorsements and Voter Deadlines

Alabama’s special primary election is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2024. Voters must apply for an absentee ballot in person by Aug. 6, and those returning an absentee ballot in person must do so by Aug. 10. Mail‑in absentee ballots must be received by noon on Election Day to be counted.

Manufacture Alabama, the state’s manufacturing trade association, has endorsed U.S. Rep. Gary Palmer for a seventh term in the Republican primary for Alabama’s 6th Congressional District. Palmer, who has served since 2015, faces Republican challenger Case Dixon, a physical‑therapy assistant, in the Aug. 11 primary. The endorsement highlighted Palmer’s support for policies that promote economic growth, reduce regulation, and ensure reliable energy and infrastructure for manufacturers.
