Alabama to host Texas A&M in high-stakes SEC matchup
The No. 13 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide will host Texas A&M this Saturday in Tuscaloosa. Following back-to-back losses to Georgia and Tennessee, Alabama faces pressure to maintain its College Football Playoff aspirations. The Crimson Tide enters the contest with a 5-2 record, bolstered by an improved run game led by true freshmen Trae’shawn Brown and EJ Crowell.
Texas A&M arrives seeking to improve a difficult season in which they hold a 1-3 record in SEC play. The Aggies aim to secure their first victory in Tuscaloosa since 2012 and potentially snap Alabama’s long-standing home winning streak against unranked opponents. Key storylines include the quarterback duel between Alabama’s Keelon Russell and Texas A&M’s Marcel Reed, as well as the return of former Alabama wide receiver Isaiah Horton to Bryant-Denny Stadium as a member of the Aggies.
Defensively, Alabama has ranked sixth nationally in takeaways but has struggled to prevent explosive plays. Texas A&M, coached by Mike Elko, will need to generate early success and big plays to overcome the Crimson Tide on the road.
