Alabama universities waive application fees for prospective students

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and The University of Alabama are participating in a statewide free application week to expand access to higher education.

At UAB, application fees will be waived for first-time freshmen, transfer, and online students from October 5 to October 9.

The University of Alabama is also waiving fees for its Early College, undergraduate programs, UA Online, and Graduate School applications. For the Graduate School, applicants must claim the fee waiver before applying, as it is not applied automatically. Standard application fees at the university typically range from $40 to $80. Matthew McLendon, vice president for enrollment management, stated that the initiative aims to remove financial barriers and make the university more accessible to prospective students.
